About Us

Paul and Caroline are a husband and wife creative team from Poole in Dorset. Over the years they have worked on a variety of projects from the restoration of their own homes to crafting handmade toys for children that have been sold in The Conran Shop and featured in illustrious locations such as The Gleneagles Hotel and the National Trust's Chartwell House, home to Sir Winston Churchill.   Trained cabinet-maker Paul hand- builds each Hardy Hut, drawing on over 40 years of carpentry experience, whilst Caroline paints each hut using Dorset-based premium paint brand Farrow & Ball. The final touch is the addition of a bespoke dog cushion upholstered in genuine Harris Tweed. Together, they have created a beautiful range of dog-houses that will bring a touch of Dorset’s rural charm to any home.

Our Story

It all began......with a little Jack Russell Terrier called Bunty. As she settled into old-age, we wanted to find a dog house that she could call her own, but struggled to find anything other than utilitarian dog crates. Paul decided to build a dog-house inspired by the shepherd’s huts that were once dotted all over his native Dorset countryside, painted with a colour-scheme carefully chosen by Caroline. After friends and family members expressed their admiration for the design, we decided to make more huts in a range of colours and sizes, and so Hardy Huts were born, named in honour of the great Dorset novelist that we love so well.

Our Values

We want you to love owning a Hardy Hut as much as we loved building it for you.  We don't cut corners and only use premium materials and expert techniques to create your unique hut.
